自從洋基球星A-Rod（Alex Rodriguez）宣布退休以後，台北時間10日到12日到紅襪芬威球場是他最後一次到客場出賽，13日回到紐約後他就即將退休，全美球迷都相當不捨，就連世仇紅襪隊的球迷也一樣。

10日洋基作客芬威球場，比賽進行到9局上，洋基2比5落後，此時芬威球場全場球迷高喊：我們要A-Rod（We want A-Rod），不過最終洋基並沒有換上他，全場堅持以先發9人打完全場，讓滿場球迷相當失望。

A-Rod與總教練吉拉迪（Joe Girardi）到最後都坐在板凳區，賽後吉拉迪說：「我有聽到這些吶喊，我也知道他想上場，但是我必須做我認為做好的事。」

多年以來紅襪的球迷都非常討厭A-Rod，因為他們曾經想要將他交易到波士頓，不過失敗了，而A-Rod也多次在季賽、季後賽打擊他們的投手，更在賽後用言語激怒他們，A-Rod因禁藥禁賽回到球場時，滿場的紅襪球迷也給他很多噓聲，很難想像紅襪球迷會希望看到A-Rod上場。

不知道是希望洋基留下A-Rod這個打擊衰退卻領大把薪水的重擔，還是真的對於A-Rod這個一代球星有滿滿的不捨，這一切都只有紅襪球迷自己知道，不過卻也讓A-Rod退休更添話題性。
